KEMPTVILLE - Shulamit (Shula) Ber Levtov and her team have a niche business to help people with trauma and stress.

Compassionate Support for Stressful Times gained momentum last year via the Kemptville Pop-Up Shop Program. It has grown rapidly since then and earned the 2018 New Business of the Year Award from the Municipality of North Grenville and the Chamber of Commerce.

"People need a place to talk where they will find compassion and wisdom," says Shula, who has a master's degree in counselling and spirituality and is a registered social worker and yoga instructor.

"The community showed me they wanted this, that there is a need for it. Stress is part of this era. Life is generally more distressing because we are all exposed to so much information."

Compassionate Support team members include Meagan Cumming, Kimberlee Dharsan Kaur, Tricya Morrice and Andrea Empey. Services include counselling, psychotherapy, therapeutic yoga instruction, Thai massage and traditional Chinese cupping as well as video support.

"It's about having a quality service where people don't have to go to Ottawa," says Shula.

The clinic began through Shula starting her own private practice in 2013. She turned it into a full-time business by 2016. Shula took business coaching and credits that with her practice becoming self-sustaining within 6 months. By 2017, there was so much business she needed to add therapists to her team.

Keys to her success are her own drive and determination, she says, as well as providing a service that is much needed and welcomed.
